We rode in the Ironhorse from Durango to Silverton this past weekend! This is becoming one of our annual training rides for Ride the Rockies. What an amazing day we had! We were incredibly lucky to have a window of good weather and sunshine. The snowbanks and avalanche debris from this past winter were so impressive!
There was wonderful energy. It seems to me that cyclists on this ride are always so happy. It was great to see familiar faces and have Max be so supported and cheered on.
Coal bank Pass was definitely the most challenging. But summiting Molas Pass we had tail wind! This is a tough ride. I am incredibly proud to be able to experience this with Max. He is a great stoker and tandem partner. He is a joy to ride with!
The best part was the chance to ride the train back to Durango. Max was on cloud nine! It was great to have the company of our good friend and fellow bike racer Dana. It definitely was the perfect way to end a perfect day on the bike.
